In the event of a motor vehicle accident claim our consultant engineers understand the need for promptness of service in making crucial decisions with respect to the damaged vehicle. Our assessors can negotiate with body shops to establish an agreed method and costs of repair or without an estimate anticipate their own fair and reasonable repair costs. In all cases our consultant engineers provide an accurate pre-accident value and confirm the salvage value and salvage category should the vehicle be a total loss.
Our reports clearly and concisely include all
the necessary information and data required to form part of a non-fault motor
vehicle accident claim. It crucially confirms if the vehicle is ‘roadworthy’
and whether the vehicle can be repaired temporarily or if a replacement hire
vehicle is required. Furthermore, in the case of taxis, our reports confirm
if a vehicle is roadworthy for but not for taxi use.
Diminution:
“The correct moral attitude to perfectly repaired vehicles - especially if they have not sustained major structural damage - is that they should be worth the same value as an undamaged similar vehicle. The most obvious argument put forward is when a potential purchaser is presented with two identical vehicles at the same retail price. If one is in its original undamaged condition and the other has an accident-repaired history, then the purchased would choose the original and undamaged vehicle. If not, at the very least they would expect a discount on the purchase price of the accident repaired vehicle.”
With sight of at least the repair estimate but
preferably with the invoice from the repairer, we can weigh-up whether in
our professional opinion Diminution of Value would apply to a particular vehicle.
If it does not, we usually provide a free of charge report detailing the reason(s)
why Diminution doe not apply. If we feel the vehicle’s value has diminished
in value we provide a comprehensive 3 page report detailing why it applies
and suggest by how much.

· If you have an accident damaged vehicle (possibly classed a Total Loss) but intend to/or have repaired the vehicle, then an independent report is required to re-insure the vehicle. Our report will not only conclude whether the vehicle has been repaired to a satisfactory standard and meets Insurance standards, but will re-value the vehicle for your Insurance cover.
· If you have any queries regarding a motor vehicle we can offer free impartial advice.
Note – in order to carry out a full examination of your vehicle, you
should arrange for the vehicle to be booked on a ramp/hoist at a garage of
your choice.
